Home and business owners becoming more conscious of theft and break-ins and with that they are looking to improve the security of their homes and premises.

After installing an alarm, the next means of adding a physical deterrant is to have electriac gates installed.

Today we are installing electric gate automation to an existing gate on a hauliers yard in Newry, Co. Down. The business owner has recently had his premises targeted by theives taking truck parts, bateries and other steel items – probably due t the high price of scrap metal.

Today was a very busy day. On the road at 6.30 and very tired. Mornings come round way too quickly.

The order of the day was to be, Fairview, Dublin first to a day care centre for autistic adults. The intercom cable had been damaged somewhere during the building work that is on-going. I spent 2 hours with one of their facilities guys earlier in the week but we couldn’t trace the damage – only knowing that the cable to the intercom  from the main building had been cut through and

Today we completed another installation that we are really proud of. It is a set of hardwood gates on an alley-way entrance in Dundalk, Co. Louth.
The gates are over 3m in height (thats over 10ft in old money) and 2.5m wide.
We were replacing an old set of hardwood gates that had been there for over 70 years – this just shows how long a set of hardwood gates can last if they are properly looked after.

This morning I went on four call-outs for repairs – all in Dublin. The first was at a private home in Foxrock. The gates were not opening reliabily and often not closing properly. In this case it was not the electric gate automation at fault, but rather the gates them selves. The gates were fully sheeted wooden gates and may not have been painted or sealed in a few years.
